Where to stay in Vienna

The Zur Agnes

If you want an off the beaten path place to stay the Zur Agnes is the place for you. Marta and her husband "The Boss" are absolutely fabulous Innkeepers. The rooms are excellent, all tucked into a garden courtyard right across from the dining room and wine keller. This is the place we had Wienerschnitzel, made from scratch by Marta; it was an excellent dish. Marta is a veritable font of information on Vienna, she will help you in all your sightseeing and informational needs. Ask her to direct you to a REAL heuriger, she will direct you to one that is not a tourist trap. We took her advice and walked about half a mile to be rewarded by excellent food and wine at very reasonable cost. The view of the sun setting over the hills of Sievering while we sat outside sipping our Gruner Veltliner wine was beyond romantic. The Zur Agnes is about 15 minutes by Tram and bus from downtown Vienna, the bus drops you just about at the front door to the Inn. We highly recommend you stay here, it is truly wonderful. Tell Marta that Alex and Anne said hello!

We loved our stay here. The Fuerstenhof is an excellent place to stay. It is right across the street from the Westbahnhof (train station). We stayed in room 40, it overlooks all the bustle of the trams and trains, and has a beautiful "Old World" charm; you'll love the old elevator. Rooms are moderately priced and come with a huge breakfast. The staff are extremely helpful with everything you need to know about the city.
